For some reason this advertising jingle for the Spanish “pastelitos” from yesteryear got stuck in our brain again. Our kids love the story of how our parents used buy the “Pantera Rosa” for us because it came with collectible chromos. No one really liked how they tasted, so we chucked them off the balcony when they weren’t looking, until one day the caretaker started complaining of all these piles of pink pastry in the inner courtyard.
Surprisingly, these pastries still exist (except Bucanero, I guess pirates aren’t as cool as they used to be), and Bimbo has managed to add all kinds of new artificial ingredients over the years, but still, they taste exactly the same as they used to 30 years ago. (Actually, the ingredients aren’t quite as bad as I was expecting compared to what they would be in the US)
Our older son said after trying the Panetra Rosa that “this is the best thing I have ever tasted in my whole life!”
