Snow day in Sant Cugat

One day after telling our visitors that it never ever snows in Sant Cugat, I was proven wrong. Last year we had a tiny bit of snow up in Arrabassada, but this year there's a couple inches.

The kids are super excited about their first snow day from school.

We're off to build some snowmen and throw snowballs....

I wonder if Sant Cugat even has one snow plow.

Same here in Terrassa, where I'm having flashbacks of listening to the radio to see if school is closed for the day. Even the lifelong Terrassencs are trying to remember the last time it snowed this much.

Ironically today was the start of "semana blanca" for the kids in school to go skiing. I think a 6 year old is still a bit too young to spend a week by himself skiing, but most of our class's parents seems to disagree.

I wonder if the bus made it to the mountains...

I hope they had better luck than I did with my 6.5-hour commute home from Terrassa to Barcelona. On the plus side, I'm now an expert on where to find the warmest corners of the Sant Cugat FGC station.

The snow is beautiful over here in Valldoreix. The kids & I took a walk through Collserola yesterday and are enjoying the snow day today. Were the public schools closed yesterday in SC? Kids went to school and left at 2 pm (the time school ends at Waldorf) and got home before it really started to come down.

Our kids just stayed home the last two days and had fun in the snow. There were lots of kids sledding on the hill in Can Matas.

My wife is a bit of a friolera so a hike to the Valldoreix train station was enough, let alone Collserola...

We will see how long the snow man lasts...

The Méteo agency in Catalonia confirms that this snowfall is comparable to those in 2006-2001-1999-1993 and 1986. Here where we live, near Vallvidrera, we got a bad blizzard and up to 16in, so perhaps your lifelong Terrassencs are not that old afterall, or suffer from a really bad memory, quite a human thing, really!
