Latest defense of PP: We haven’t yet been convicted of anything

I suppose Esteban Gonzalez Pons offered the best defense he could given the situation. It boiled down to:

1) The evidence isn’t legal enough to convict us of anything, therefore we haven’t done anything wrong. Who are you going to believe? Me or your lying eyes?

2) He thinks that the Barcenas papers were written in one sitting (he doesn’t say that he thinks they were faked). He also thinks that the documents aren’t from the PP because they were photocopies and there are big gaps. Sure… perhaps in one of those gaps Rajoy decided to return all the money he was paid under the table.

3) He doesn’t think it’s fair that Rubalcaba is asking Rajoy to resign, despite the fact that the PP asked Zapatero to resign several times. The PP was justified because unemployment and the economy were bad in those days. Yeah….since things are sooooo much better now, there’s no real reason to resign.

4) The PP won the last election, so the government is legitimate. I guess this means that no elected government official should ever resign.
