Artisanal bombs

Sometimes you think a word means the same thing in Spanish and English. Most of the obvious ones like “pretend” or “molest” you learn pretty quickly. However, when I read that "Los explosivos de Boston eran de fabricación artesanal", I got it, but somehow it just sounded wrong.
