When you order a mint tea in Spain, most likely what you will get is Menta Poleo, otherwise known as pennyroyal in English. Pennyroyal is a bit of a controversial herb since pennyroyal oil is highly toxic to the liver and can cause spontaneous abortions.
Some people think it helps digestion, but these are the same people that are always telling me that not wearing slippers around the house will cause me to get pneumonia.
